iPad as Scopes Monitor
Recently, I have been using my iPad as a second monitor for both my PC and my Macbook. Many times when colour grading I simply want a small second monitor to project my scopes and/or clips bin. This then frees-up valuable real estate on your main monitor. This is especially relevant for those who have no choice but to grade on a laptop, where screen space is at a premium.
Using the Duet app I am able to simply connect my iPad to either my PC and Macbook and use it as a second monitor. Granted, it’s not that large, but it is the perfect size for the elements above when grading or video editing.
This all said, if you do not already own an iPad then you could buy a cheap IPS monitor for less than the aforementioned Apple product, but it proves to be a very cheap monitoring option if you do have one.
If you’ve got an iPad, struggling to afford a second monitor, then pop to their site, have a look and see what you think. For me, this set-up works great for my purposes.
